OpenOffice.org Sun Weblog Publisher

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

So I primarily use OpenOffice.org as my main office suite. This is primarily for several reasons. I like to support open source software over commercial software whenever possible. I never know what computer or OS I am going to be using and/or buying next (I am pretty agnostic in those regards), and I want to be able to access files I have created in the past so I can use them in the future.

So you are probably wondering where this is going. One of my resolutions this year, besides completing more projects, was to work on my website and my blog more frequently. This is slowly starting to happen as I take care of more external things in my life. Since I use OpenOffice.org fairly frequently, I figured it might be good if I got an extension for it to let me update my blog. I download the Sun Weblog Publisher extension and I am publishing this post as my first attempt with it.

If you read my last post on writing some python tutorials, this extension is going to make it much easier for me to write those. I also am working collaboratively on a script for a comic book with a friend, so if anyone knows of an extension that works across multiple OS\’s and/or mobile platforms (I have a Windows Mobile 6 phone, he has a Blackberry) to share documents easily (possibly with markup), please let me know.

Note that there will definitely be more information released on the comic book as we get further into the project. So far we have four pages and a cover completed, as well as about 8 pages of script, and an outline for how the rest of the script should go.
