Flower Children

I recently scanned in a cool little book that I found called Flower Children: The Little Cousins of the Field and Garden by Elizabeth Gordon. The copyright page indicates that it is the Twenty-Ninth Edition and is Copyright 1910 by P.F. Volland & Company.  The book should be in the public domain now according to this page that I found.

I will try to post 2-3 pages per week until I have posted all the pages. When the project is complete I will publish the final result as a CBZ file. I can also put it into other formats if people would like them.

This book appealed to me because I liked the artwork, and it seems to me that it is a relic of it’s time. I don’t know how a book like this would fare today.

I had to use a few tools to accomplish this project. I scanned in the pages with my scanner and GIMP. I did the initial cropping in GIMP and then used the DBP plugin to batch convert all the files from XCF to PNG. The final step was to use Phatch to batch crop and resize all the files for presentation on the web.
